Story Summary

The story begins in rural Japan, where Tanjiro Kamado lives peacefully with his family. One day, after returning home from a trip, he discovers that his family has been brutally murdered by demons. The only survivor is his younger sister, Nezuko, who has been transformed into a demon herself.

Despite her transformation, Nezuko retains traces of her humanity and refuses to harm innocent people. Determined to find a cure and avenge his family, Tanjiro begins training under former Water Hashira Sakonji Urokodaki.

After surviving the dangerous Final Selection examination, Tanjiro officially joins the Demon Slayer Corps and begins taking on increasingly difficult missions. During his journey, he encounters fellow Demon Slayers Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira, who become his closest companions.

As Tanjiro grows stronger, he uncovers more information about the demons responsible for countless tragedies across Japan. His investigations eventually lead him to Muzan Kibutsuji, the mysterious Demon King responsible for creating demons.

The season reaches its emotional and action-packed climax during the Mt. Natagumo mission, where Tanjiro and his allies battle Rui and the Spider Demon Family. This confrontation reveals the terrifying strength of the Twelve Kizuki and introduces the Hashira, the elite warriors of the Demon Slayer Corps.

The events of Season 1 directly lead into the Mugen Train Arc, where Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke are assigned a new mission alongside Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku.
